156 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education and Science when authorisation was withdrawn by his Department from a school (details supplied) in Dublin 17 which closed in 1999; the assistance that was provided in getting alternative schools for the children; if he will assist a family and child (details supplied) who is out of national school for over one year; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department withdrew recognition and grants from Scoil Phaipín Naofa with effect from 31 August 1998. In correspondence with the school authorities the Department offered to assist in making alternative educational arrangements for its pupils, on request, but the school made no contact in this regard.

However, I am arranging to have my officials inquire into the matter raised by the Deputy.
