Written Answers. - Waste Management.

Richard Bruton

Question:

383 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has carried out an estimate of the average operating subsidies which will be needed, at current commodity prices, to establish, on a viable basis, a countrywide recycling operation in glass, cans, newspaper, cardboard, plastics and composting. [23046/00]

I have not carried out a study of the nature suggested.

The question of operational subsidies in support of recycling activities will be addressed in a forthcoming policy statement on waste prevention, minimisation and recovery.

Question No. 384 taken with Question No. 366.

Question No. 385 taken with Question No. 368.
