Vol. 524 No. 6

Written Answers. - Vaccination Programme.

Michael Ring

Question:

219 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has satisfied himself with the levels of tuberculosis vaccine; and whether there is shortage of the vaccine to deal with the disease. [23587/00]

Supplies of BCG vaccine, which protects against tuberculosis, are purchased by the health boards for use in neonatal and other immunisation programmes. My Department has made inquiries of the Eastern Regional Health Authority, which co-ordinates vaccine purchasing on behalf of all health boards, and has been informed that there is no difficulty in relation to the supply of this vaccine.
