Vol. 524 No. 6

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Dan Neville

Question:

245 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the current position with regard to the provision of a new sewerage scheme (details supplied) in County Limerick. [23531/00]

Contract documents for this scheme have been submitted to my Department but have not been approved. The proposal is 15th on the list of schemes submitted by Limerick County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of the needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists were taken into account in the framing of the Water Services Investment Programme 2000-2002 announced in July. Given the priority rating afforded to the scheme by the council, the level of competing demand and the funding available, it was not possible to include it in the programme at that time.
