Vol. 525 No. 1

Written Answers. - Fishing Vessel Licences.

Michael Ring

Question:

84 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if the tonnage on a boat (details supplied) in County Mayo is still valid; and if so its value; and if it can be transferred in view of the fact that the boat owner died in 1993. [23769/00]

My Department's records indicate that the vessel in question was wrecked in 1982. It was not, therefore, entered on the sea fishing boat register pursuant to the Merchant Shipping (Registry, Lettering and Numbering of Fishing Boats) Regulations, 1989 or 1997. In these circumstances, the vessel's capacity may not be used as replacement capacity in the licensing of fishing boats.
