Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Marine Survey Office.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

250 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the reason a person (details supplied) in County Donegal is being asked to buy additional tonnage when other people with the same boat capacity and the same level of tonnage are considered to have sufficient tonnage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24055/00]

The capacity of the vessel concerned, as certified by the Marine Survey Office of my Department, is 14.35 tons and 46kW. My Department's records show that the capacity removed to date from the sea fishing boat register for the purposes of licensing the vessel amounts to 11.87 tons and 44.02kW. Processing of the licence application will be finalised without delay on receipt of documentary evidence that the outstanding balance of 2.48 tons and 1.98kW has been removed from the register.
