Question:596 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on whether fluoride can be regarded as either a medication or as a nutrient; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24674/00]
Written Answers. - Drinking Water Quality.
The World Health Organisation in its guidelines for drinking water quality, 1996, states that fluorine is probably an essential element for both animals and humans. It does, however, acknowledge that there is a lack of data to indicate a minimum nutritional requirement.
