Question:

128 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Health and Children the average delay from time of application for hearing aid to the provision of these in each of the health board areas. [19796/00]

Following the dissolution of the National Rehabilitation Board in June last, responsibility for the provision of audiology services throughout the regions has been assigned initially to the Northern Area Health Board pending each health board taking over direct responsibility for the services within its own region. The following information which was made available to me on 2 October 2000 by the Northern Area Health Board outlines the current waiting times in each health board region for hearing aids for both adults and children:
