Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Refugee Status.

Dan Neville

Question:

808 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a decision on granting of refugee status to a person (details supplied) in Limerick will be made. [24811/00]

It is not the general practice to comment publicly on individual applications for refugee status having regard to the fact that applications by their nature are made in confidence with the expectation by the applicant that such confidence will be preserved.

However, I can confirm that the applicant was interviewed on 22 June 2000 in relation to his application for refugee status. I expect that a decision on his application will be made in the near future.
