Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Paul McGrath

Question:

905 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science his views on whether ideal infrastructural facilities are not available in a primary school (details supplied) in County Westmeath where two classrooms are divided merely by a curtain, where the staffroom must be used for remedial classes and where the district nurse recently had to abandon examination of pupils because of the non-availability of accommodation; if an application for additional facilities has been received from the board of management; the stages and likely timescale for the provision of such facilities; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24610/00]

My Department has recently received a request from the management authorities of the school in question for the provision of improved accommodation.

My Department has arranged to have an application form forwarded to the board of management. As soon as the completed form is returned to the building unit the case will be dealt with as quickly as possible having regard to the large volume of school building projects on hand within my Department at present.
