Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Consultant Appointments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

169 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will sanction the appointment of a third consultant for the gynaecology unit in Tralee General Hospital, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24579/00]

The appointment of additional staff and the identification of priorities is a matter for the Southern Health Board in the first instance. No proposal has been made to my Department for the appointment of a third consultant. If such a proposal is made, I will consider the application in the context of available resources and the priority accorded to it by the board.

Question No. 170 taken with Question No. 167.
