381 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the annual cost of giving £50 per week to every child under one a child benefit increase. [25093/00]

It is estimated that increasing child benefit to £50 per week for every qualifying child under one would cost an additional £113 million in a full year.

It is estimated that increasing child benefit to £25 per week for each qualifying child would cost an additional £802 million in a full year.

It is estimated that increasing child benefit to £25 per week for every qualifying child under five would cost an additional £207 million in a full year.

384 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the estimated annual cost of increasing maternity benefit by four, six, eight and ten weeks. [25096/00]

The estimated full year cost of extending the duration of maternity benefit is as follows – £12.74 million for four weeks, £19.11 million for six weeks, £25.48 million for eight weeks, and £31.85 million for ten weeks.
