Vol. 525 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Ulick Burke

Question:

210 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when grants due to a person (details supplied) in County Galway under the 2000 headage and suckler cow schemes will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25666/00]

The person named submitted an application for four cows under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme and on four beef cows and four other animals under the 2000 cattle headage scheme on 5 May 2000.

Payment of eligible animals under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme is determined by the number of quota rights held by the applicant. As the applicant in question holds three quota rights it established an entitlement to premium on three animals and accordingly a 60% advance payment of £265.30 issued to the person concerned on 11 November 2000.

In the case of the 2000 cattle headage application two of the animals applied on were disposed of within the retention period. Under the regulations a 25% penalty will apply to the remaining animals applied on. Arrangements are in place for payment to issue as soon as possible.
