235 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in completing the design work for the flood relief scheme at Kilkenny city; and the action he will take to accelerate the project in view of the recent heavy rainfall and the damage done to property throughout Kilkenny city and county. [25518/00]

Preparation of the detailed design and contract documents for the Nore River (Kilkenny City) drainage scheme are currently being progressed by the firm of engineering consultants appointed by the Commissioners of Public Works. Design works are now advancing with a view to commencing on site next summer.
