Vol. 525 No. 5

Written Answers. - Clerical Officer Pay Structure.

Michael Noonan

Question:

239 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance when a pay increase for clerical officers in the Civil Service on board three and four, will be paid; if the arrears due since 1 May 2000 will be paid in full; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24286/00]

I presume the Deputy is referring to the revision of pay for clerical officers, the terms of which were sanctioned in Department of Finance Circular 19/2000 issued in July 2000. This provided for, inter alia, the elimination of age points on the clerical officer scale, and the assimilation of officers on those points to higher points on the revised scale. The responsibility for implementation of the circular lies within each Department. In the case of Departments/Offices paid by my Department, I understand that the revisions to pay have already been made, and that any arrears due – arrangements for which are currently being made – will be paid by 1 December 2000 at the latest.
