The total authorised number of non-industrial Civil Service staff sanctioned for the office of the Houses of the Oireachtas is currently 306. A breakdown of this figure by grade follows. A total of 34 additional staff have been sanctioned for the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas since January, 2000 and these are detailed as follows. In addition, there are a varying number of industrial staff employed on both a permanent and casual basis in the bars and restaurants in Leinster House.
Translation Section – One Translator Grade 1, One Translator Grade 11, Two Translators Grade 111 and Six 4 year contract posts at Translator Grade 111 level; New Leinster House Complex – 1 Deputy Head Usher, 13 Ushers; Financial Management Generic Model – two Senior Clerks (one IT-related), two Junior Clerks and 2 COs; Human Resource/Performance Management – one Senior Clerk, one Junior Clerk; Committee System – one Head of Committees at Principal (Higher Scale) level.
The total number of vacancies in the office of the Houses of the Oireachtas at present amounts to 27 out of the authorised cadre of 306. There are no applications for additional staff currently on hands for that office. Any applications received will be considered on their individual merits. It should be noted that, in addition to the new post of Head of Committees referred to above, an additional three Principal Clerks, two HEOs, one EO and two COs have been sanctioned since April, 1998 specifically to support the committee system.
