Vol. 525 No. 5

Written Answers. - Report on Health Professionals.

Seán Ryan

Question:

261 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will report on the implementation of the recommendations of the expert group on salaries of senior physiotherapists within the sector; and if he will arrange for the issue of outstanding back pay to be resolved as a matter of urgency. [25543/00]

My approval to implement the recommendations of the expert group report on allied health professionals, in relation to the remuneration of those grades listed therein, including physiotherapists, was communicated to all agencies, on 30 June 2000, in Department of Health and Children Circular No. 81 of 2000.

However, the implementation of those recommendations of the report raised certain issues concerning the assimilation of existing staff. I am happy to say that these issues have now been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties, and my approval to implement the revised arrangements in relation to assimilation was communicated to all agencies on 25 October 2000 in Department of Health and Children Circular No. 130 of 2000. I am confident that agencies will arrange to have any outstanding payments made as quickly as possible.
