Vol. 525 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Car Test.

Phil Hogan

Question:

287 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the problem of motor vehicle importers in respect of the implementation of the national car testing measures; if they are engaged in the importation of second hand vehicles; if he will consider separate regulations for these imports; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25447/00]

The national car test applies without distinction to cars which are first registered in Ireland when new and to second hand cars imported from abroad.

I have no proposals to change these arrangements, which respond to the requirements of EU legislation.
