Vol. 525 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Monuments.

Tony Gregory

Question:

324 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the plans there are to provide additional public lighting at the Garden of Remembrance, Parnell Square, Dublin 1, as requested by the North City Business Association. [25526/00]

Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands (Miss de Valera)

The lighting at the Garden of Remembrance includes wall lights and spotlights both at the entrance and within the garden. Lights are sometimes broken, often apparently through vandalism, and my Department is looking at whether existing lights might be made more vandal-proof. The garden is closed outside daylight hours.
