Vol. 525 No. 5

Written Answers. - Technology Infrastructure.

Michael Creed

Question:

152 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if she has satisfied herself that all Gaeltacht communities have the necessary infrastructure to compete as a location for information technology industries. [25634/00]

I understand from Údarás na Gaeltachta that following a request from me it has commissioned consultants to undertake a study of the technology infrastructure of the Gaeltacht and the islands.

The aim of the study is to identify deficiencies in such infrastructure and to make recommendations as to the necessary developments that are required in order that the Gaeltacht and the islands will be in a position to compete, on an even basis, with areas with such infrastructure for technological industry and it is expected that the report of the consultants will be available soon.

Question No. 153 taken with Question No. 148.
