Vol. 526 No. 1

Written Answers. - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

Liam Aylward

Question:

198 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will seek a report from the South Eastern Health Board on the delay in investigating the appeal by a person, (details supplied) in County Kilkenny against its refusal of her application under the housing aid for the elderly scheme and where it was indicated by the board in July 2000 that an environmental health official would call to discuss her case in detail; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26015/00]

As the Deputy is aware, the housing aid scheme in County Kilkenny is operated by the South Eastern Health Board on behalf of the Department of the Environment and Local Government.

I have had inquiries made of the board and have been advised that the individual concerned did not qualify for assistance under this scheme, but that arrangements would be made for an environmental health officer to revisit the applicant. Unfortunately, a delay occurred in arranging this visit but I have been assured by the board that arrangements have now been put in train to visit the person concerned.
