The appeal in question was received in my Department on 17 October and was examined by the visa appeals officer. The original decision to refuse the application has been upheld as the appeal did not adequately address the concerns expressed by my Department in respect of the original application.

Question:359 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will review his decision to refuse a holiday visa to a person (details supplied). [26308/00]
The visa application in question was refused because it had not been established, on the basis of the documentation supplied to my Department, that the applicant's plans were genuinely short-term in nature. In particular, my Department is reluctant to grant a visa to a person whose sole reference in Ireland has met them only once during a short holiday period abroad.
I have reviewed the application but regret that, in the circumstances, I am unable to overturn the decision in this case.
