Vol. 526 No. 4

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

206 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will provide the necessary funding to enable Kerry County Council to carry out improvement works on Scraggane Pier, Castlegregory, County Kerry including the construction of a 30 metre quay wall; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27002/00]

Scraggane pier is owned by Kerry County Council and its repair and maintenance is the responsibility of the local authority in the first instance. The pier is included on the list of piers and harbours projects in the county, submitted by the county council to my Department for funding support. The scope for funding for works at Scraggane Pier and other locations in County Kerry will be kept under review by my Department, in consultation with Kerry County Council, in light of available resources in 2001 and forward years.
