Vol. 526 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

John Ellis

Question:

331 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a dealing in the Land Registry Office will be completed for a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [27001/00]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application for first registration which was lodged on 9 March 2000.

I am further informed that the application is in the final stages of completion at present and, subject to no further queries arising, should be completed within the next few days.

John Perry

Question:

332 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will intervene with the Land Registry Office and have the application for registration by a person (details supplied) in County Sligo immediately processed, in view of the length of time it is lodged and taking into consideration the fact that it is required for further legal documentation; if it will be expedited; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27062/00]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the application referred to by the Deputy relates to a transmission which was lodged on 5 November 1998. I am further informed that this application is dependent on an application under section 49, that is, acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged in the Land Registry on 16 November 1998. Dealing Nos. D1998SM007404K and D1998SM007593K refer.

I am further informed that queries issued to the lodging solicitors on 12 May 2000 regarding the section 49 application and that both applications cannot proceed until these queries have been satisfactorily resolved. Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date for the application concerned at this stage.

I have also been informed by the Land Registry that dealing No. D1998SM007593K must be brought to a satisfactory conclusion before dealing No. D1998SM007404K can proceed.
