351 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science if classroom assistants and special needs assistants working in primary schools will be getting pay increases in line with the terms of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27063/00]

I can assure the Deputy that my Department is committed to the payment of all increases due to special needs assistants under the terms of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. Arrangements are being made to ensure that the payments in question are made by December 2000.
