Vol. 526 No. 4

Written Answers. - Drinks Industry.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

112 Mr. Broughan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she has received an application from publicans in the greater Dublin area for an increase in the price of the pint; the level of increase sought; her views on the application; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26558/00]

I have not received a formal application, as such, for an increase in the price of the pint from publicans in the greater Dublin area. I advised the representatives of the Licensed Vintners Association, when they met with me last month concerning the question of a price increase, that I did not intend to amend the drinks order, which temporarily freezes prices as part of the Government's overall anti-inflation package.
