Written Answers. - Hospitals Building Programme.

Seán Ryan

Question:

247 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Health and Children when he expects to make residential services available in the north Tipperary area. [27225/00]

The development of a 24 bed in-patient acute psychiatric unit at Nenagh General Hospital is being progressed by the Mid-Western Health Board as part of the national development plan. A planning application for this unit has been made to the local authority.

The board has also purchased a property for the development of a community residence at Borrisokane. These developments will provide in-patient care for people and will greatly enhance the psychiatric services for the people of north Tipperary.
