363 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 369 of 21 November 2000 with reference to the properties currently being used by the Directorate for Asylum Support Services in the Cork area to house asylum seekers, the number of people that each property can accommodate; the actual number housed at each venue at present; if each property has been purchased or leased; the cost to the State and terms of any leasing or other such arrangement as appropriate; if any other such properties have been leased or purchased and are not being used at present; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The following are the capacity and current numbers of asylum seekers being accommodated at each property being used at present by the Directorate for Asylum Support Services in the Cork area.

Contracts for service between the directorate and the appropriate proprietors for the provision of full board accommodation for asylum seekers are in place in the following properties:

Island View House, Morrisons Quay, Cork City

Clonakilty Lodge, Clonakilty, County Cork
The costs per month of these arrangements range from £7,560 to £207,144.
The Cork Airport Hotel has been leased by the Office of Public Works for use by asylum seekers. The average monthly cost for accommodating asylum seekers there is £68,000.
In addition to these properties, the Office of Public Works has purchased Lynch's Lodge Hotel, Macroom, for use by the Directorate for accommodating asylum seekers and the Directorate has entered into a short-term contract for the provision of full board accommodation for asylum seekers at the Rushbrooke Hotel, Cobh, County Cork.
