410 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 143 of 19 October 2000 with regard to an organisation (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, he will state the progress made since that date. [27609/00]
The issue of the disposal of the premises in question is under consideration in my Department at present.
In the first instance, it is necessary to ascertain within my Department whether the premises in question may be required for different forms of educational provision to that provided by the committee. Having now concluded that process, my Department does not consider that the premises are required for alternative educational provision.
Accordingly, my Department will be in contact with the committee in the very near future to discuss the detailed terms of the proposal in the context of the legal position concerning the sale by vocational education committees of surplus property.
