Vol. 526 No. 6

Written Answers. - Fishing Schemes.

John McGuinness

Question:

131 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the plans he has to introduce set aside buy out for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny on the Nore estuary; if so, when the details will be available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27214/00]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 169 on 21 November 2000 in I which I stated that the Southern Regional Fisheries Board has confirmed that preliminary discussions are currently taking place with the relevant stakeholders regarding a set aside scheme for salmon drift nets in the Waterford and Blackwater estuaries.

If agreement is reached, proposals will be duly submitted to my Department and will be positively considered in light of available funding.
