125 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the expected and projected outcome of the Garda Síochána directive, making the granting of a certificate conditional on the installation of a safe; and the way in which these projections were arrived at. [27869/00]

I have been informed by the Garda Commissioner that the new firearm storage requirements which were introduced earlier this year are being challenged in the High Court by way of an application for judicial review. As this matter is the subject of High Court proceedings, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further.
