Vol. 527 No. 1

Written Answers. - Spencer Dock Project.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

46 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if, in view of the difficulties in relation to the Mini-CTC contract, she has satisfied herself with the contractual obligations entered into by CIE with a company (details supplied) in relation to the Spencer Dock Project; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27648/00]

As I stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 23 on 19 October 2000, the chairman of CIE has outlined to me the basis of CIE's participation in the Spencer Dock project. The contractual obligations entered into by CIE are a day to day matter for the board and management of the company and I have no function in the matter. CIE receives its own independent legal advice on contractual matters which is normal procedure for commercial State companies.
