Vol. 527 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

203 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Sligo will be transferred to the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs in Sligo. [28276/00]

Transfers to provincial locations, such as Sligo, are arranged for the grade in question in accordance with an agreement reached with the staff side at General Council under the conciliation and arbitration scheme for the Civil Service. An officer's placing on the transfer list for a particular location is fixed in order of date of receipt of the application in the Department concerned.

The Land Registry, in which the person concerned is currently employed, operates a system whereby officers are required to serve for two years before a transfer application may be considered. The application for transfer to Sligo has been noted in the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs. When the two year period has been completed, and should the applicant's placing on the transfer list be reached, the officer may then be considered for transfer.
