Vol. 527 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

John McGuinness

Question:

250 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will investigate the delay in arranging bypass surgery for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who urgently requires the operation as confirmed by his general practitioner and consultant and is a patient at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny; if he will insist on an early date being set for the operation; and his views on the waiting list for this type of operation. [28541/00]

The provision of medical treatment for eligible persons in County Kilkenny is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this matter and reply to the Deputy directly.
