Vol. 527 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

John McGuinness

Question:

257 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in arranging an assessment for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if, in view of the urgency of his case supported by his general practitioner, an early date will be set for assessment and treatment; and if a medical card can be issued as a matter of urgency in view of the applicant's financial and medical circumstances, his immediate need for medication, attendance at hospital and his general practitioner. [28613/00]

The provision of medical treatment for eligible persons in County Kilkenny is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the South Eastern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the position in relation to this matter and reply to the Deputy directly.
