Vol. 527 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Amalgamation.

Jack Wall

Question:

379 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science the current position with regard to the amalgamation of two schools (details supplied) in County Kildare; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the work sheet in relation to this matter has not been returned by his Department to the schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28314/00]

Written confirmation has been received that two post-primary schools in Athy, Scoil Eoin and Scoil Mhuire, have agreed to amalgamate and a meeting was held on Monday, 4 December 2000 with both school authorities to arrive at an agreed schedule of accommodation. When this process is complete, the Department will conduct a technical examination of both school sites in order to assess which is more suitable to provide the necessary permanent accommodation.
