Vol. 527 No. 4

Written Answers. - Gaming and Lotteries.

Richard Bruton

Question:

161 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform his views on the recommendation of the Review Body on Gaming and Lotteries that a new body to be called the Gaming and Lotteries Authority should be set up; and when he will introduce the necessary legislation. [28822/00]

I note that one of the recommendations included in the report of the review group relates to the establishment of an authority to oversee the regulation of gaming and lotteries. The establishment of such a body will require legislation, the preparation and timing of which is being considered in the context of the heavy legislative programme of my Department.
