Paul Connaughton

The person named will be paid his entitlement under the 2000 cattle headage scheme within the next seven days.

The person named applied for special beef premium on 6 November 2000 in respect of 27 animals. The two month retention period for this application will expire on 7 January 2001. Payment cannot issue until retention requirements are met.

Question:

129 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a 1999 extensification grant payment was not made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28888/00]

Extensification premium is payable where the stocking density on the holding is less than 1.40 livestock units per hectare.

The stocking density for the person named is calculated as follows: milk quota 9,704 gallons/897 – 10.81; ewe premium 100 @ 0.15lu – 15.00; special beef premium; 10 month – 6 @ 0.60 – 3.60; 22 month – 5 @ 1.00 – 5.00; suckler cow premium – 14 @ 1lu – 14.00; Total – 48.41.

Area declared on the 1999 area aid application was 29.77 hectares.

The stocking density on the holding is calculated by dividing the total livestock units by the hectares, 48.41/29.77, giving a stocking density of 1.62 livestock units per hectare. The rules governing the establishment of the livestock unit values of milk quota require that the milk in question had to be taken into account.

Therefore, as the stocking density on the holding for the person named is not less than 1.40 livestock units per hectare for 1999 he has no entitlement to the 1999 extensification premium.
