Vol. 527 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Willie Penrose

Question:

142 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have arrangements made for the immediate admission of a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon for a hip operation at Tullamore General Hospital in view of the fact that the procedure is urgently required; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28987/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Westmeath is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board in the first instance. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
