86 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Health and Children the implications of a recent Competition Authority statement for negotiations between his Department and the Irish Hospital Consultants' Association and other medical bodies. [28772/00]

Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Martin): I assume the Deputy is referring to the possible implications of the Competition Authority statement on negotiations between the IHCA and the VHI and BUPA on professional fees. My Department is not a party to these negotiations. My Department will continue to negotiate on human resource issues, pay and conditions with the IHCA and the medical organisations.
