Vol. 527 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Austin Deasy

Question:

87 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure that funding is made available to the South Eastern Health Board for the provision of a replacement hospital for St. Vincent's District Hospital, Dungarvan, County Waterford, in view of the antiquated conditions currently being endured by both patients and staff; and if he or an official from his Department will visit to see the situation at first hand. [28998/00]

As the Deputy is aware, the provision of health services in County Waterford is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board. The question of deciding upon capital priorities is a matter, in the first instance, for consideration by the health board in the light of available capital funding and the board's service needs.

I have been advised by the South Eastern Health Board that it has made provision under the National Development Plan 2000-2006 for the replacement of the district hospital in Dungarvan.
