Vol. 527 No. 5

Written Answers. - Company Law.

Liam Aylward

Question:

104 Mr. Aylward asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will process at the earliest possible date the application for a licence under section 24 from the Law Society of Ireland on behalf of a voluntary organisation (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [29057/00]

Applications for a licence to dispense with the word "limited" are dealt with under section 24 of the Companies Act, 1963.

In reaching a determination on receipt of all applications, the memorandum and articles of association are forwarded to the Companies Registration Office for examination. They are also examined by our Department, particularly with regard to the standard clauses required under the Act.

The current position with this case is that the application was received on 24 November 2000. The memorandum and articles of association have been forwarded to the Companies Registration Office. Following examination by that office and our Department of the memorandum and articles of association, the solicitors rep resenting the company will be informed if any amendments are required.
