Vol. 527 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Noel Ahern

Question:

146 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance if he will have examinations made into the matter of local authority rents; and if, as an anti-inflation measure, he will put a moratorium on local authority rent increases and perhaps compensate local authorities directly for the loss sustained. [29191/00]

I have no function in relation to local authority rents. Local authorities are responsible for the determination of the rents of their dwellings under the differential rent scheme and the income to be taken into account in their assessment.
