Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Michael Moynihan – the need to discuss the case of a person (details supplied) in relation to school transport to Meelin national school; (2) Deputy Gregory – the need for an educational task force in Dublin's north inner city; (3) Deputy Shortall – the urgent need for a Government initiative to resolve the ASTI dispute so that secondary school students will not be further denied their right to education; (4) Deputy Ó Caoláin – the need for the Government, in the interest of cross-Border trade and international trade, to oppose the proposal from the British Government to introduce a special levy by way of a disc for haulage vehicles using roads in the Six Counties and Britain; (5) Deputy Durkan – the issue of why incorrect information has been used to terminate the OPFA in a case (details supplied), why the Department of Social Community and Family Affairs misrepresented the applicant's housing application to Kildare County Council, a confidential document, in a selective way to substantiate a departmental decision, if the Minister if aware of court proceedings, the effect of which is that the applicant could not be cohabiting, if OPFA will be restored forthwith; (6) Deputy Seán Ryan – the loss of 750 jobs at the Motorola facility in Swords, County Dublin; (7) Deputy Wright – the job losses involved following the takeover of the Motorola company in Swords which will leave a net number of as many as 750 people without work and the urgent need for a special task force to bring new employment into the area; (8) Deputy Owen – the circumstances surrounding the loss of 750 jobs at Motorola, Swords, County Dublin and the steps being taken to remedy this loss; (9) Deputy Flanagan – the current Garda manpower levels in Laois-Offaly having regard to widespread public concern at a reduction of service, particularly at weekends.

The matters raised by Deputies Seán Ryan, Owen, Wright and Flanagan have been selected for discussion.
