Written Answers. - Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

50 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the views of the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association set out in their document, An Opportunity to Build a Health Service Fit for the 21st Century; and his views on the thrust of the document. [28945/00]

I am in receipt of the Irish Pharmaceutical Healthcare Association's, IPHA, pre-budget submission entitled An Opportunity to Build a Health Service Fit for the 21st Century.

Many of the issues referred to in this document, such as the review of general practice, cardiovascular and cancer screening and greater use of preventative medicines are already being addressed within my Department.

Officials from my Department meet regularly with representatives from IPHA to discuss issues of mutual concern.
