Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Bus Licences.

John Bruton

Question:

108 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if any of the 200 private bus licence applications in her Department for the Dublin area will serve commuters from County Meath travelling to Dublin; and if she will make a statement on when she expects to process these applications. [29374/00]

My Department has seven applications on hands for the greater Dublin area. One of these applications is in respect of services which may benefit commuters from County Meath. It is expected that these applications will be processed by the end of December 2000.

A further four licences for services in the greater Dublin area were recently approved. Two of these licences have recently issued. The remaining two, one which may benefit commuters from County Meath, are awaiting a response from the operators concerned.
