Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Agriculture Schemes.

Tony Killeen

Question:

163 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will extend the closing date for completion of projects under the control of farmyard pollution, diary hygiene, alternative enterprise and farm improvement schemes to facilitate projects already under way. [29770/00]

The schemes referred to which are EU co-financed have been closed to new applicants by my Department for a number of years. The closing date for the completion of investment works under these schemes has been extended by my Department on two occasions during the past 12 months in order to facilitate farmers who had encountered difficulties in completing their works by the specified closing date. However, I have asked my Department's officials to examine sympathetically individual cases where genuine reasons have prevented completion of works within the extended timeframe.

Question No. 164 withdrawn.
