Question:210 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure that a review of nursing officer-deputy nursing officer pay scales is undertaken in advance of the report of the benchmarking body. [29350/00]

The only forum in which nurses' pay can be dealt with is the benchmarking body established under the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. Following a recent agreement between the Govern ment and the social partners, the benchmarking body is due to report by 30 June 2002.
