Question:

277 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of Freedom of Information requests received by his Department; the number of requests rejected; if he will review the treatment of Freedom of Information requests; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29464/00]

The following table sets out the position regarding freedom of information requests granted, refused, etc. from the commencement of freedom of information to the end of November 2000. All aspects of the operation of freedom of information, including the number and types of decisions being taken, training requirements of decision-makers, use of technology in processing requests, are kept under review on an ongoing basis in my Department.
