Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Disabled Persons Grant Scheme.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

311 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will clarify whether the installation of central heating and/or storage heaters is eligible under the disabled persons grant scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29776/00]

Under the disabled persons grants scheme, a local authority may, for the purposes of determining the level of a grant, include the cost of providing central heating or appropriate heating system in the overall cost of necessary adaptation works. In circumstances where a proposed heating system extends beyond the accommodation for the disabled person, an apportionment of the cost is made.
